Frithjof Karsch received his Ph.D. in theoretical physics from Bielefeld University (Germany) in 1982. After post-doc years at CERN/Geneva and at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign he became a staff member at CERN in 1986. In 1990 he again joint Bielefeld University as a professor in Theoretical Physics. In 2005 he took up an appointment in the Physics Department of Brookhaven National Laboratory where he became group leader of a newly established Lattice Gauge Theory group.
