Andrew Siegal

Andrew Siegel is currently a Computational Scientist in the Mathematics and Computer Science Division of Argonne National Laboratory, serving as Head of the Petascale Applications Team and Leader of the Blue Gene Consortium Applications Group. Dr. Siegel has considerable experience designing large, multiphysics applications for parallel computers, most recently serving for four years as the Lead Architect for the ASCI Flash Project at the University of Chicago, and currently leading Argonne's efforts in designing an integrated high-fidelity virtual nuclear reactor. He combines this research experience with a background as an industrial software architect, and continues to consult and serve as a board member for several innovative companies. Dr. Siegel also holds the position of Adjunct Professor of Computer Science at The University of Chicago, where he has designed a popular software engineering curriculum and taught over twenty-five courses in scientific computing and software design. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Chicago and Ph.D. from the Unversity of Colorado at Boulder in Astrophysics.
