SUNY Stony Brook

Michael Zingale is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at SUNY Stony Brook. Previously, he was a postdoc at UC Santa Cruz and a member of the SciDAC Supernova Science Center. He received his PhD from the University of Chicago (2000), where he was a member of the ASCI Flash Center and a co-developer of the FLASH Code. His current research focuses on the small scale physics of thermonuclear flames in Type Ia supernova (SNe Ia) and the development of new hydrodynamics methods for application to the convective and ignition phases leading up to the SNe Ia explosion.
