Michael T. Heath

Michael T. Heath is Professor and Fulton Watson Copp Chair in Computer Science and Director of the Computational Science and Engineering Program at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. After receiving his PhD in Computer Science from Stanford University, Heath spent several years at Oak Ridge National Laboratory before joining the University of Illinois in 1991. He is an internationally recognized researcher in scientific computing and its applications, as well as an award-winning teacher and author of a widely used textbook on scientific computing. Heath is an ACM Fellow and a member of the European Academy of Sciences. As Director of the Center for Simulation of Advanced Rockets, Heath leads an interdisciplinary team of more than 80 researchers that is bringing a new era of virtual prototyping to the design and analysis of rockets and other complex, coupled, multicomponent systems.
