Eric Schwegler is the Quantum Simulations Group Leader in the Physics and Advanced Technologies Directorate at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. He joined Lawrence Livermore in 1998 as a postdoctoral fellow. His research at Livermore has been focused on the use of first principles methods to examine materials under extreme conditions and on systems of biological relevance. He received his B.S. in Chemistry and Computer Science from Southwestern University in 1991 and his Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from the University of Minnesota in 1998. His graduate work was on the development and application of linear scaling electronic structure theory.
