Professor Zhu is a PI on the SciDAC Climate Modeling project. Her research interests lie in multivariate analysis, time series analysis and spatial statistics. She received her PhD from UCLA in 1996. Her statistical research laboratory is known for their work in the development of statistical methodology as well as statistical software platforms such as VistaMS (for gene microarray and SAGE analysis), proteoExplorer and SpectrumMiner (for serum protein and atmospheric aerosol mass spectrum analysis). Dr. Zhu has been a long-time collaborator of scientists at the Brookhaven National Laboratory. She is also an adjunct faculty of NYU where she serves as the Data Core Director of the William & Sylvia Silberstein Institute.
