Biography
Tony, who is a Corporate Fellow and Group Leader for Theoretical Astrophysics in the Physics Division at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, earned his Ph.D. in 1988 at the Center for Relativity at the University of Texas at Austin. Currently, he is also an adjunct professor in Physics and Astronomy at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. He is a fellow of the American Physical Society, and received both a Presidential Early Career Award in Science and Engineering and a DOE Young Scientist Award in 1999. He conceived, proposed, and served as the project manager for SciDAC’s Terascale Supernova Initiative; he has been studying supernovae since 1986.
